Coloured photovoltaic glass is usually chosen where a facade must read as one calm, continuous surface. The cells stay out of sight behind the coloured layer, so the energy function does not change how the building is drawn or perceived.
Colour, finish and panel size are best fixed together with the facade grid. Lighter and warmer tones let less light reach the cells than dark ones, so the colour decision and the expected energy yield should be discussed at the same time.
Not every part of an elevation receives enough sun to be worth activating. Inactive panels in a matching colour can fill shaded zones, edges and cut pieces, so the facade stays visually uniform while the active area sits where it performs best.
The panels are laminated, toughened safety glass and are installed in standard curtain-wall or rainscreen systems. Cable routing and junction boxes are planned behind the glass, which keeps the visible face of the facade free of technical details.
